How much will my panel heater cost to run?

Modified on Mon, 23 Oct, 2023 at 12:39 PM

We cannot say exactly how much electricity your panel heater will use as it varies depending on which heater size is used, how it is used and how well insulated is the property.

To give an example of a worst case cost of a heater per hour:

A PLX200E heater (rated at 2kW - 2000 watts) running continiously for one hour:

2.0kW x 1 hour running = 2kWh or 2 "units" of electricity...

If you are paying 30p per unit, (£0.30 x 2 units), that heater would have used 60 pence.

You will need to check your electricity bill to see how much you pay per unit/kWh of electricity.

Note that this is a worst case example. In reality, the heater is unlikely to be running "flat out" all the time, as the thermostat within the heater will switch off the element once the room is up to temperature and only switching the element back on in brief bursts to maintain that room temperature.

There are several things you can do to reduce running costs, all listed here.
