How do I reduce the running costs of my Quantum heaters?

Quantum has a timer which allows you to set different room temperatures for different times of the day. Make sure you have set the temperature to what you actually need for each time period, to allow the heater to keep the room comfortable using cheaper, stored electricity. 

A - Turning the thermostat down by a degree will help reduce running costs. Remember to alter this in the timer for each time period and day to maximise economy, as simply turning the dial to change the temperature on the main screen will only make a temporary adjustment.

A - You can alter the Quantum timer to reduce the time the heater spends heating the room, which will save on energy costs. For example, by turning off the living room heat at 10pm knowing you’ll be going to bed at 11pm.

A - If your Quantum heaters only have one mains cable going to them, the off-peak times need to be set correctly in the heater. This is accessed by holding ADVANCE + MENU. If you change energy supplier, the new supplier might give you new off-peak times so it’s worth checking these are correctly entered into your Quantum so it knows when it can charge at the cheap rate. Also make sure the heater’s clock is set correctly!

A - If your Quantum says “Heating ON” and you are leaving the house and don’t need the heat – use the ‘Advance’ button on the heater to toggle it to “Heating OFF” so you are not heating an empty room whilst you’re out.

A - Need a boost of heat? Use the “Boost” function on the Quantum to get a quick warm up- but remember this could be using your peak rate electricity. If you find yourself using the boost regularly, check the timer settings to make sure your heater is heating the room for a long enough time period. If you’re using “Out All Day”, try using “Home All Day” as this will make the heater take a little bit more of the cheaper off-peak electricity, but helps avoid needing to use the boost and peak rate.

A - If you use a room intermittently, either try to set the “User Timer” to reflect when the room is in use, or use the ‘Away’ (holiday) mode until the heater is needed again, rather than just switching it off at the wall. If a heater is switched off completely, it will take a couple of days to learn the room conditions again.

A - Springtime arrived and don’t need any more heat? For long periods without heating, the Quantum heater can be switched off at the wall switches until Autumn arrives. The clock uses a battery backup and settings are all held in memory, but turn it on a few days before it’s needed so that it can learn the room temperature and start to store the right amount of energy.
