The buttons on my Duoheat storage heater are locked and not responding. What do I do?

There are two ways that a Duoheat storage heater buttons could be locked.

Central timer locking the controls:

If you have a central timer, like the RXPW4 (PW4), RXPW4N or RXMBS4, if that timer is sending out a Setback, Frost or Off command, the keypad lock LED will light up green:

Simply turn the timer dial to the SUN position (or switch off power to the timer) and the heater will no longer be locked - the green lock LED will go out and it will then be possible to adjust the temperature settings on the heater.

Child Lock:

If there is a Red LED lit next to the lock icon, then that means the heater is in Child lock Mode. Hold both the Plus and Minus buttons down together for 2 seconds to lock or unlock the child lock feature. The Red lock LED will go out when the keypad is unlocked and you will then be able to use the plus and minus buttons to adjust the temperature settings on the heater.

There is also a video showing using the Child Lock:

More information on the controls for the DuoHeat storage heaters can be found here.

Note the DuoHeat range of heater are now discontinued and there are limited spare parts.
