Why do my radiators feel cooler to the touch in spring or autumn time compared to winter time?

Modified on Tue, 18 Jul, 2023 at 11:48 AM

Most System-S heat pumps will be set up using a weather compensation curve or using SmartRTC room thermostats.

Weather compensation is a setting within the heat pump which reduces the temperature of the water in the radiators in milder weather and increases the temperature in the radiators in colder weather, in order to make the system run as efficiently as possible. Therefore it is normal and expected to feel the radiators are cooler to the touch in milder weather.

If the system is designed and radiators sized correctly, the radiators will still provide the comfort required in the room, without needing scalding hot radiators to achieve this.
