My radiators do not feel as hot as I would expect, certainly not as warm to the touch compared when my old boiler was running. Is that normal?

Modified on Tue, 18 Jul, 2023 at 11:50 AM

Yes, this is normal, as heat pumps are most efficient when operating lower temperature heating systems. When the water in the radiators is at a lower temperature, the heat pump efficiency will increase, improving running costs. In addition, the controls may be set up to automatically reduce the temperature of the water in the radiators, as the weather outside gets warmer. This enables the system to be as efficient as possible, whilst still maintaining a comfortable room temperature.

If the system is designed and sized properly, the radiators will still provide the comfort required in the room, without needing scalding hot radiators to achieve this.
