What does the Snowflake symbol mean on my Edel display?

Modified on Wed, 11 Sep at 10:29 AM

The snowflake appears when the unit is set to Frost Protect (F/P) mode. In Frost Protect mode, neither the compressor nor the immersion element will run. If you do not want it set to F/P, you'll need to do the following to amend:

  1. With the unit ON (green LED lit on the power button and symbols showing), hold the CLOCK button down.
  2. This will take you into the program and from there you can select the day (or multiple days), then either SEE/MODIFY or add a NEW PROGRAM.

The full 24 hours of each day needs to be used, however chosen upon set up, bearing in mind these units require a long time to reheat the water.

For Example:

00:00 - 07:00 COMF

07:00 - 15:00 F/P

15:00 - 19:00 ECO

19:00 - 24:00 COMF

It is advisable to simply leave the cylinder on 00:00-24:00 COMF so that the cylinder can reheat whenever the temperature within the tank drops off, as the reheat time on the cylinder can be several hours from cold.

In addition, if the backup immersion needs to run, it will only do so if COMF mode is enabled on the timer and if the anti-legionella cycle needs to run, it will do so at 22:00 but COMF should be enabled from 22:00 to ensure the cylinder can complete the legionella cycle.

A list of the meanings of the other icons / symbols on the display can be found here.
